The dowty retarder can be installed and used in the straight section, curved section and turnout area in the shunting yard. The dowty retarder is composed of a sliding oil cylinder assembly and a housing assembly, which are fastened on the inside of the rail with stud bolts. Inside the sliding oil cylinder there is a speed valve that judges the speed of the vehicle and a brake that acts on the vehicle The pressure valve is filled with a certain volume of oil and nitrogen. Therefore, the deceleration top does not decelerate for vehicles below the critical speed (can be selected as required), but only for vehicles above the critical speed.
