If the dowty retarder are continuously arranged in groups on a section of the line, considering that the braking force of a single dowty retarder occupies a very small proportion in the entire system, even if the braking ability of a single dowty retarder is lost, the impact on the entire system is very small. Therefore, continuous installation of dowty retarder in groups on the line can be used as an external force to consume the potential energy of the train, achieve a certain degree of deceleration, and achieve the purpose of auxiliary braking, thereby ensuring the safety of loading operations.
According to the construction principle of dowty retarder, the speed of dowty retarder can be adjusted within the allowable range of speed valve plate opening and support spring to meet the needs of train operation. Therefore, theoretically, it is technically feasible to install dowty retarder on the lines before and after the loading point with large slope and before and after the track scale; from the structural performance of the retarder, it can ensure the safety of vehicles or trains within a certain speed range.
