The dowty retarder is subjected to two forces during work, namely braking work and resistance work. Brake work (absorptive work) is the work performed by the dowty retarder on the vehicle under braking. The resistance work (no-load work) is the work performed by the deceleration top on the vehicle in a non-braking state.
The greater the braking power of the dowty retarder, the more obvious the deceleration effect on the vehicle. The magnitude of the braking work mainly depends on the opening pressure of the dowty retarder term pressure valve and the actual working stroke of the sliding cylinder body: the larger the pressure, the longer the stroke.
