At present, all kinds of dowty retarder are fixed on the rail waist by stud bolts, which bear all kinds of forces of wheels on dowty retarder. So what are the disadvantages of this installation method?
This kind of installation structure has certain influence on the rail. First of all, because this kind of installation method needs to drill holes on the rail waist, the position of the holes on the rail is to meet the layout requirements of dowty retarder. Once the design and construction are completed, the position of dowty retarder is relatively fixed. If adjustment is needed, the holes should be drilled again, so that the installation and use of dowty retarder lacks flexibility.
Second, drilling holes in the rails reduces the strength of the rails, which has an impact on the safety of rail transportation and the service life of the rails. Especially in some application places that have high requirements on the strength of the rail, it is forbidden to drill holes on the rail to install the speed regulation equipment.
Thirdly, special drills are needed to drill the steel rails during installation of dowty retarder, which increases labor intensity, delays the time the equipment is put into use, and increases the equipment cost.
